Gaoligongshan Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Westernmost Yunnan. The Gaoligongshan Gr derived from the Gaoligongshan metamorphic rock named by The Yunnan party of Regional Geological Survey in 1965. Cao Renguan formally renamed it in 1979 on Precambrian of Yunnan Province. The typical section is situated in Gaoligongshan area, in the west of Nujiang River, Yunnan Province.

Lithology and Thickness
The Gaoligongshan Gr is dominated by high-grade metamorphic gneiss, schist and marble, which is more than 10,000 m thick. From the top downward, it was subdivided into five formations. The Biluoxueshan Fm is dominated by mica-schist and gneiss. The Nujiang Fm is composed of marble and schist. The Buda Fm is mica-gneiss intercalated with schist and marble. The Sidudi Fm consists of schist interbedded with marble. The Fugong Fm is a mica-gneiss intercalated with schist and marble.

Lower contact
Unconformable onto the underlying Damenglong Gr (Mesoproterozoic that is underlying all of West Yunnan)

Fossils
The low-grade metamorphic rock in the periphery yields trilobites Proceratopyge sp., Hedonaspis sp. etc., but the high-grade metamorphic rock has nothing at all.
